Fed: Perth to trial hydrogen busses
Environmental Minister ROBERT HILL says Australia will take part in an international
trial of environmentally friendly buses powered by hydrogen.
Senator HILL says Perth residents will test three hydrogen fuel cell buses for two
years from June, 2002, and similar trials would take place in 10 European cities.
He says fuel cell technology has been identified internationally as a likely successor
to the internal combustion engine for powering vwhicles.
Senator HILL says the trial will be conducted by the Western Australian government
in collaboration with Daimler Chrysler and BP Australia.
