STUDENTS PUT THEIR TIME OFF TO GOOD WORK.(CAPITAL REGION)

Albany Ten College of Saint Rose students decided to forgo a ski trip or partying with friends on their winter break to help serve food to homeless people in Washington, D.C.

The students, most of whom don't even know one another, loaded their luggage into a van Sunday morning on the deserted campus between Western and Madison avenues. Shortly after 10 a.m., they began the 8-hour drive south.

``It isn't too often you hear about college kids giving up their vacation time,'' said Benjamin Marvin, a spokesman for the college.
